Activities in French offered by French in Cévennes

During your language immersion course in the Cévennes, you will not only follow French courses adapted to your needs and desires, you will also be able to participate in activities that will allow you to discover the region and its inhabitants while practising your knowledge of French.

Here is a list of activities you can do. The list is not exhaustive, it is adaptable if you wish. Many other activities are possible according to your desires, do not hesitate to contact me to discuss it: visit of nearby cities (Nîmes, Avignon, Montpellier…), restaurant outings

For activities with a supplement, this corresponds to the entrance fee (museum, cave, etc.) or the rental of equipment and the use of a guide (sports activities). This supplement will be charged to you and must be paid on site.

Sports activities in the Cevennes :

These activities are weather-dependent, so they cannot take place if the weather is too bad.

Hiking

From a short 30 minute walk to a 3 or 4 hour hike, I will accompany you during the hikes to discover the Mialet valley and its history.

Numerous paths and trails lead directly from the lodge to magnificent viewpoints and panoramas over the entire valley. The last stage of the famous Stevenson Trail passes through the lodge grounds.

Electric mountain bike (MTB)

Go for a 3 hour ride on the small roads around Anduze with a professional instructor.

The courses are varied and suitable for all levels.

Canoe trip

At nightfall, board your canoe for a 3-hour trip to discover the local wildlife.

The activity is supervised by an experienced guide.

Canyoning

If you like jumps, stunts or slides!

Take a 3-hour trip down the Gardon, the local river, with an experienced guide. Several levels of difficulty are possible.

Tree climbing

Walk from tree to tree in this park nestled in the valley.

Numerous courses adapted to all levels.

Swimming in the river

The river Gardon runs through the grounds of the lodge and offers numerous access points for swimming from April onwards… for those who don’t mind the cold!

Cultural activities in the Cévennes :

Visit to the bamboo grove

Just a few minutes from the lodge is one of France’s most beautiful gardens, where you can admire over 1000 varieties of bamboo.

On the programme: bamboo forest, reconstructed Laotian village, dragon valley, redwood alley, aerial walk…

The Desert Museum

The history of the Cévennes in general, and of Mialet in particular, is inseparable from the history of Protestants in France.

Through some twenty rooms, the museum traces the different stages of this history.

Maison rouge, museum of the Cévennes valleys

Located in Saint-Jean-du-Gard, this museum is dedicated to the tangible and intangible heritage of the territory and the inhabitants of the Cévennes.

The Trabuc cave

A small mineral paradise sculpted by the work of water.

Cévennes Steam Train

Between Saint-Jean-du-Gard and Anduze, follow a series of tunnels, bridges and viaducts and discover a small part of the Cévennes.

Gastronomic activities in the Cevennes :

Visit to a local market

Every day there are many markets around Mialet. This will be an opportunity to discover the surroundings and to buy some local products… while speaking French!

Visit to a cellar or a winery

De nombreux vins sont produits et récoltés dans les Cévennes.

Some estates offer tours of their estates followed by tasting of their products.

Visits to farms and tasting of local products

If you wish, we can visit local producers, visit their farms and taste their products (honey, cheese, etc.).

Cooking workshop

On request, Florian, who prepares all the dishes served in the lodge, can share some of his little cooking secrets with you during themed workshops (preparing a pizza, Thai cooking, traditional French recipes, etc.).
